All classes are held at DAC Gallery, located at 828 S Main Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Unless otherwise noted, all classes are appropriate for all skill levels. Class fees cover all materials and parking for the duration of the class. Parking is conveniently located in a lot next to our building. Classes vary in duration, as noted in class description. If a class does not meet minimum registration requirements, it will be cancelled in a timely manner. |

Painting and Design on Fabric |
|
You will be using batik (wax resist), fabric paints and pens, and tie dye to create wall hangings and decorative t-shirts. You won’t need any special skills for this class. |

Ceramics |
|
We will cover basic construction, pinch pots, slab building and coiling, and glazing techniques. Students will create different vessels, bowls, platters, cups and more using the construction methods they have learned, as well as explore their artistic styles through the use of various glazing techniques. |

Introduction to Visual Culture |
|
This class is the study of the basic principles, elements, and media of art as introductory to understanding its purposes and uses. Though the subject matter is organized thematically, there will be emphasis on historical chronology as it relates to style. You will be asked to participate in class discussions and activities, as well as complete some light writing assignments designed to make you think critically and creatively. |

In this course, the student will be exposed to a wide variety of media, techniques and subject matter; from pencil to charcoal, gesture to technical, still– life to landscape. This far-reaching course provides a wide survey of the art of rendering. |

This class is for those who have little or no painting background. We will explore the elements and principals of design, including: color, shape, line, balance, and value, as we learn and play through the acrylic paintings process. |
Class Information |

Using traditional techniques, this class walks through the fundamentals one step at a time. Instruction includes group demos, slides, critiques, and one-on-one guidance. Slides and discussions will introduce historical and contemporary examples, as well as providing a platform for “dialoguing” with other past and contemporary artists. |
